Transferring To English

Image
The hardest part of a mission is NOT getting doors slammed on your face or walking all day or having a tough companion. It's when you grow to love people so much and then you have to say goodbye. This week we got transfer calls and I will be leaving Temecula. I got called as a Sister Training Leader which basically means that now I have a 3rd of the sisters in the mission under my stewardship. I will go on exchanges with all of them once a transfer and serve them as much as I can to help them succeed. But that also means I will be going to english work. I'm sure you can all imagine how I feel about that. I'm devastated. I have grown to love the hispanic culture so much and I am really scared that I will lose my spanish. I know the Lord will help me but it will be different for sure. I have been transferred to the Young Single Adult ward in Del Mar. It's right on the beach so i guess that's a plus. But I have never worked with YSA so that will be super weird at first...

Letter From Mission President

Good day Sister Wilhelmsen,   Thank you for your email and I appreciate and love your daughter so much. She is doing amazing things.   She is set to come home on July 31, 2018. That is the transfer date and any movement in that date creates issues within the movement of all the other missionaries that are moving on that date. Early on when I started I allowed a missionary to go home on an off transfer cycle and it created challenges for several other companionship. It is easier to delay the day going home than to move it up because how transfers work.   So the short answer, you should plan on her arriving some time in the afternoon on July 31.   Thank you for your support of your daughter and the missionary program. It is a blessing to be a part of this great work.   Let me know if you have any additional questions.   President Glen Thomas, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, California Carlsbad Mission

Road Show

Hi guys, another great week in paradise.      Last Monday we had to stop by a family's house (los Rangel) to get a baptismal record signed, and then they begged us to stay for they're noche de hogar.(FHE) So we did and it was so much fun but the spirit was so strong. I don't even know if the family noticed because it was a super short message by their 9 year old son and a little game afterwards. But while they were singing and sharing their thoughts the spirit hit me so strong and it just helped me realize how important it is to have noches de hogar.      Martes we went to the mutual activity without investigator Vanessa and they played dodgeball! Of course me and my comp played even though we were in dresses. And Vanessa passed her baptismal interview!      We have started meeting with Oscar Martinez (less active) 3 times a week to reteach him the lessons. His testimony is growing as he reads the Book of Mormon and he said that he wants to g...

Last Cup Of Coffee

Helloooo      So this week was great as well! We spent most of the week preparing for America's baptism! We ran into some problems with the program so it took us hours to do it but we eventually figured it out. We had our last two lessons with her which went really well. On Thursday we showed up at her house (which was the day of her baptism) to teach her the last one and she told us she had drunken her last cup of coffee before her baptism. And so usually if that happens you have to cancel the baptism and wait 2 weeks before they can get baptized again. So me and my comp looked at each other and didn't know what to do so we told her she needed to repent. Well she just started her prayer right there and goes "Dear Heavenly Father, I want to repent for drinking coffee. I thought it would be funny but it wasn't. It didn't even taste good. Bad America, Bad!" And then closed her prayer hahahahaha. We were trying so hard not to laugh. She is so funny but it was a s...

Hi guys! Well this was a week full of miracles.      Well at first it started out really sad because our golden investigator decided to go to the english ward with the family that she is living with, even though her mom goes to our spanish ward. So we went and said bye to her Monday night and we were super sad. But as long as she is finding the gospel we were happy.      The next day we had zone conference! It was amazing and the spirit was so strong. We talked about discipleship and we learned how to use facebook for missionary work! It was funny because we started adding a lot of members as friends on Facebook but they didn't know we were allowed to use it and so they said that they weren't going to accept it until they talked to us to make sure we weren't being sneaky or something haha.      I want to invite you all to read the talk "The first and great commandment" by Jeffery R. Holland. It is really good and brings the spirit really stro...
