Zone Competition
Hellooooo:) This was a really good but really busy week. I like when they are busy because you feel so much more accomplished! But anyway, it was so good to talk to my family last week and I'm bummed Kyle's mission call isn't here yet!
Last pday was super relaxing because sister langton and I went and got Acai bowls and then went to a bench by the beach and just watched all the surfers for a while. It was fun. Then for FHE we played bubble soccer! You know those huge blow up balls that you can get into and run into each other? Well we played soccer with those and it was sooo much fun! Being in YSA sometimes has its perks.
Also it was super funny because we combined with the APs (assistants to the President) ward and so we were talking to them and my companion farted super loud on accident and it was so funny but she was so embarrassed hahahahhaha. Sorry if that was TMI.
This week we had a competition with the zone to see who could contact the most people. We thought we were gonna win with 147 but the zone leaders beat us with 195!!! Sooo they get to smash pies in our face today as a consequence haha. I will send pics next week.
We had exchanges this week and I was with a missionary that has only been on her mission for a week! It was super interesting to think about myself as a missionary and see how far I have come and see the changes in myself since I was a greenie. Crazy. We had service with the elders that day which was fun. We are helping their investigator fix up her house! Also one of our recent converts, Riley, had an aunt that was about to pass away from cancer. Riley is the only member of her family that is a member and it has always been an awkward subject in their house. So we went and dropped off flowers to them even though we didn't know them and it was cool to see how with just one act of service, their whole perspective of the church was changed.
So yesterday was "Bring your Friend to Church Day". We have had this planned for a couple months now and we had 4 speakers and 2 musical numbers picked out and it was going to be awesome. Well, this past Thursday one of our musical numbers had to cancel because of a family emergency! We texted a couple people but no one was available so..... I had to do it. I sang an arrangement of "I know that my redeemer lives" with another elder from the mission. It went well and we got a lot of compliments so that turned out great, even though I was SUPER nervous.
Our investigator Jack is sooo elect. He is coming to all of the activities and loves it! He came to institute on Thursday and left halfway through. We didn't know why but then his friend went out and felt like he should just give him his Book of Mormon. He opened it and it just spoke to him. He was crying and had a really spiritual experience! It was super cool. He came to church for the first time yesterday and loved it! He will get baptized for sure. So awesome.
Last night we were walking along the street and we saw these 2 hispanic men that were drinking so we stopped and talked to them. One had just arrived that day from Oaxaca Mexico to work and had nowhere to sleep. I felt so bad. He asked if we had a blanket or anything to keep warm and it turned out that we did. So we ran back to our car and gave it to him. He immediately put it around himself and had the biggest smile. So cute.
Well that is about all for this week. I love you all so much!
