Liz Went To The Temple!
This week was super good!!! We were trying to light the world this week and we prayed to be able to do it this certain day. We couldn't think of anything to do for the certain day and then all of a sudden a lady named Sister Crump (who by the way knows Marv and Dianne Pett), called us and was saying her and her 2 kids were super sick! So we gotta get her soup and popsicles and bring them over to give! It was awesome :)
This week we visited a recent convert named Candelario. I love him SO MUCH. I can't even explain it. He is from Guatemala. He was telling us this week that when he lived in Guatemala there was a civil war going on. One day he was walking to work and all of a sudden he saw the military and he started to run as fast as he could away and he ran into this house he found. Well turns out he shouldn't have done that because it was one of the sides of the war. So they held him hostage for 3 days and they beat him and stuff!! CRAZY. Also he said it's a common custom there that if someone robs you then the whole town will get together and strip the thief of their clothes and everyone will watch while people hit them. It's such a different culture but so fun to learn about.
We had zone conference this week!! I love them because we get to see other missionaries that we don't usually get to see. I got to see Hermana Clawson!!!! I miss her soooo much. I would be her comp again in a heartbeat.
We went to lunch again with a different recent convert named Ramon. He is such a sweet man and is literally willing to give us everything if we asked. He gave a talk at church on Sunday about his conversion story and it made me cry. It just reminds me why I am out here and that no effort is wasted. His life changed so much. He was at the point in his life where he didn't want to live anymore and then he found the missionaries and he is so happy. Ah I just love him so much.
While we were at lunch with him my vision started going blurry and I felt like there were lights flashing in my peripheral vision and my head started hurting really bad. We are supposed to call the nurse if anything like that happens so I did and she told me it was a migraine and to go lock myself in a dark room without any light at all and lay there for no less than an hour. So I did and I felt better when I got out. It was super boring though I'm sure you can imagine.
WE GOT TO GO TO THE TEMPLE WITH LIZ!!! On Saturday we left in the morning and went to do baptisms with our recent convert Liz. She is seriously the cutest thing ever. She kept saying "My whole life I have driven by the temple and have wanted to go inside and now I finally get to go" I cannot even describe how happy it made me to watch her do baptisms. There was a lady there who brought her own name for her sister but she was a little older and couldn't do the baptism for her, so they asked me if I would do it and obviously I said yes. Apparently the lady was a lawyer in Mexico and got on the bad side of the drug cartel and a member of her extended family came in and murdered her and her whole family. So sad. I felt blessed I was able to do the baptism for her and help out her family. It was so cool!!
Saturday night we had our ward party for Christmas and it was really fun!! Our district sang "Silent Night" in Spanish and there was a ton of food and stuff it was really fun!!
Well I can't wait to Skype my family next week!! I really appreciate all of the love and support you guys give me!! I love you all!!
