Becoming A Missionary Without Getting Paid

So this week was another awesome week! We started TRC which is when Mexicans from outside the wall come and take lessons from us. Some are members and some are investigators! Our first one was a member and that went well. Our second one was an investigator which was a really cool experience. She asked me why I had come on a mission if I didn't get paid and I got to bear my testimony to her and afterwards she said "that was beautiful". it was hard to understand her a lot of the time because she talked so fast but it was good. Some of my good friends left this last week for the field. It was sad but they're going to be awesome!

Sundays are the best here except for p-days of course. We get a break from all our classes and have church. Every sunday they just tell everyone to prepare a talk and they call the speakers from the pulpit so you have to be prepared. And it has to all be in spanish.

President Russell M. Nelson came and spoke for our devotional!! It was awesome. All of the missionaries got to shake his hand and it was so so cool. He talked about how "the Lord uses the unlikely to accomplish the impossible". During his talk he said "some churches are just smoking some type of weed" it was really funny lol. Mom you would have thought he was the cutest man ever. I joined the MTC choir.

Me and my comp play volleyball everyday with a big group! it's fun and a nice break from classes.

One of the Latino Elders here shared with my comp and I a little about his life. His parents are divorced and his dad lives in Texas with other siblings. He lives with his grandma and works from 7 am to 8 pm. His brother is in jail for drugs. This elder is one of the happiest guys ever though. It just makes me grateful for what I have.

We hear loud booms all the time that sound like either bombs or cannons going off and we don't really know what they are. Sirens every night and all through the day. We saw a couple fires on the mountain side the other day. It's not a good part of town. It smells like rotten eggs every single morning here which is gross but it eventually goes away.

Okay so here in Mexico, even though we are in a church establishment, the food is pretty sketchy. So many missionaries have bowel problems and food poisoning. I thought I was going to make it without getting sick because all I eat are fruits and vegetables but I was wrong. Yesterday after gym time I threw up so I got to take a nap. It felt good and I'm all better now. I'm really excited to get back into the US, the best country in the world.

Thank you guys a lot whoever sends me the free daily letters! It's really nice to get them throughout the week, and makes my day. I love you all so much!! Have a great week!
